So far so good after signing up, I do hear a little noise with the Linksys adapter, but I was told by support Linksys has finally admitted its their issue, and they are working on solving it. The question I have is whats the time frame people are seeing to have a number ported over to
Vonage
? How soon after submitting the forms can you cancel the old phone service? Does
Vonage
take care of cancelling everything?

This was my experience:
December 29, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
December 30, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
December 30, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
December 30, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
January 13, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer

15 days, including the holiday wasn't bad, had Comcast as my old phone service.

Well, mine took a bit longer.
November 28, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
November 29, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
November 29, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
January 13, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
January 18, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer
For what it's worth, it was actually completed on the 14th, but they forgot to update the status until the 18th.
Still, it was a bit long and I was paying Verizon a lot of money (since I was on their unlimited local and long-distance plan). Fortunately,
Vonage
gave me a credit for taking so long.
