My home phones are GE DECT 6.0 wireless phones.
My Vonage service is connected to the cable using a Linksys WRTP54G router.
When we answer our home phone, there is a noticeable delay (1 to 2 seconds) before the person hears us say "hello". We have to say hello 2 maybe 3 times. Then all is OK.
I have performed the following test... While at home, I call my home phone from an outside line. On the phone I am calling from, I hear the ring tone as if the phone is ringing at my home. However, it is not ringing at home for 2 rings, after which the home phone starts to ring.
Seems that the 2 problems are connected.
Comments / solution is welcome. |

I don't have a solution, but the problems aren't necessarily connected. It's not unusual for the caller to hear the simulated ring tone before the called phone actually rings. When you ran your test, did you have someone in the house pick up? Could you talk right away? |

Yes. Delayed "hello" problem is persistent requiring multiple "hello"s. This is frustrating. I am going to try moving to a wired phone.
Problem with delayed ringtone is intermittent (could be me not understanding what is going on). |

I've had this problem on and off for years. When I bought a new router it stopped for months and then came back. When I bought new phones it stopped for a while and then came back. I think I need to take a serious look at my home wiring to see if I can get any leads on this problem.
Have you had any luck since your original post? |

I still have this problem. I've connected my wireless phone system base directly to the Vonage enabled router. I've changed from phone port 2 to phone port 1. Both of these were suggested by Vonage, neither one had any affect. I'm about ready to call it quits on Vonage. I refuse to give the AT&T crooks any money, so that leaves just the cell phones. |
