I am connected to Vonage via a wireless link using a WRTP54G router.
I am using GE DECT 6.0 wireless phones at my home.
I use Skype heavily for international calls.
Skype works uneventfully until an inbound Vonage call is being received. During the Vonage ringtone, my Skype drops. When there is no ringing, my Skype is fine. This continues until the phone is answered.
I have had Comcast out to verify my internet link is OK (which it is). I am told that there is a frequency conflict between my GE phone and my Linksys router. However, I have read in this forum that going to a different wireless phone with a different frequency does not fix similar problems.
Comments are welcome. |

2.4 GHz cordless phones and wireless routers are a problem. I thought DECT phones were OK, but maybe not. The first step is to substitute a simple wired phone and see if the problem does or does not go away. Alternately, disable the wireless function in WRT, use a hard wired computer for Skype, and run the test. |

Thanks. From what I am reading, the DECT 6.0 comes with 2 frequencies, 2.8Ghz and 5.8Ghz. I think I have the 2.8 unit. Time to shut down the wireless WRT link and move to the hardwired test. |
