Post subject: Vonage and dynamic IP address
i bought a
Vonage
device in usa and plan to take it to india.
so i called up my internet service provider in India to check if it would work.
he said that my current internet service provides me with a "dynamic IP" address and that
Voip
service does not work well with dynamic address because the ip address will keep changing every 2-3 hrs..(or somethin like that)
so he wanted me to spend an extra 3000Rs (~60$) to get a static IP address.
is it true that i need a static ip for
Vonage
? .. or was he tryin to get extra cash from me ??
please reply
thanks

I don't know about how things are in India, but the most common addressing used in US customer installations is dynamic. It's the default mode for
Vonage
devices and it works fine.
