Hi,
My family has had Vonage since 2005, and we have never had any real problems with the service, until today. Last night, our phone line went completely dead. After waiting to see if the problem would resolve itself overnight, I decided to go through the traditional method of googling the problem and going through the suggested restarts/recycles of the wireless router/phone adapter/cable modem/phones. We have lost a dial-tone before, but only when Comcast has shut off our internet for maintainance of their site. The countless restarts did nothing to fix the problem, and I have tested multiple phones in multiple phone jacks, and none of them work. I have been at this all day. After calling Vonage's customer service and talking for an hour with a guy in India, the problem remains unsolved. We had some trouble understanding each other, and he basically had me repeat stuff that I've done all day, and then said that I'd have to pay $80 for a new adapter that has not once proved itself to be defective. Needless to say, I'm not too thrilled with that suggestion, and from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to be a sure-fire cure.
Hopefully, you all will have some suggestions. Our wireless internet works perfectly, and our phone adapter does not show any sign of malfunction. The power light, the ethernet light, and the phone 1 light are all on and solid, which means that our phone line should be active. The same applies to the wireless router and modem. Please help! I'm quickly nearing my wits' end.

The phone port that your number currently resides on may have died on you. The PAP2 has two phone ports, have you tried moving your number to phone port 2 via your web account using move a number under add-ons? |

Yes, it worked! Thank you so much. =D
How did my phone number die, may I ask? Is this something that I can expect will happen again? |

As with all electronics, they are destined at some point to cease working. At some point, phone port 2 may also quit working. If and when it does, I would suggest to you to get a new Vonage adapter. Glad to hear it's working for you now. |
