You should check online for service providers in El Salvador, make sure they don't say that they prohibit the use of Voip. Also, depending where they live, they may not have choices so you should find out what they have available at their address and go from there. I used Vonage from Mexico for well over two years and it was usually good. |

I live in El Salvador, are developing budding rural ecotourism, native hand made arts and crafts, etc. projects and would love to have a number in USA where prospective travelers and volunteers could call 24/7.
I have a TIGO cellphone 10c US a minute to USA 24/7
and a CLARO TELECOM inalmbrico line, plug in fixed line phone.
Also in El Salvador other carriers are Digicel, MoviStar..Telefonica
Highly competitive here in ES some 7.3 Million cellphones now to 6.3 Million inhabitants
I am technically 'chalenged' however doubt that Vonage is here in El Salvador, I have heard of it in Mexico Telemex Telecom of Mexico owns Claro here in ES and Brazil....from an ex pat forum I belong to.... outgoing at expatexchange.net to me

"I like Vonage. It may cost 25 bucks a month, but gives me more options. I have a US number but live in Brazill. Anyone in the US can call the number, I answer in Brazil. I can call 60 countries with no charge. I can also use it to call any landline in Brazil with no charge, not taking away minutes from my Brazil cell phone. I can also call back to the US with no charge."
If anyone with some tech savvy visiting El Salvador I can be your part time guide and interpreter a couple days, lots of good deals in ES, especially to call US/Canada very cheaply but no USA line phone service.
Anyone in the know reply. El Salvador Ex Pat |
