5. Vonage V-Portal
6. Dsl -> 2 Wire-> V Portal into 2 Wire via ethernet connection
7. Caller ID issues after using Vonage's #5 (Busy Call Return).

Hi All;

Around 4:00 pm on the 4th I placed a call to a number that was busy, I used the Busy Call Return #5 feature to let me know when the line was free. Ever since all of our incoming phone calls are displaying our home phone number. We are getting the correct name info. It's the incoming phone number that is wrong.

It is coincidental. Return call only sets the Telephone adapter in a mode that will generate a new Invite out the the busy number every 60 seconds for a 30 minute time frame. It has nothing to do with any caller ID feature.

2 things to look at:

1) Is the caller ID displaying your own number on incoming calls on a telephone or on the V-Portal LCD screen or both?

2) If you check the call log in your Vonage web account, does it show the correct number of the calling party?

I am pretty sure that both the V-Portal and your web account will be displaying the correct calling number and if your issue exists, it is somehow related to an issue with the telephone or caller ID box that is displaying the wrong information.

You are correct VonTechMgr the caller ID is working fine on the V-Portal and the online web account information.

Our cordless phone is a V-Tech DS6111 w/ DECT 6.0. So does that mean we just ignore the phone display and work of the V-Portal then?

It seems really strange that everything was working ok until that afternoon.

Try pulling the battery fro the handset, removing the power cord from the base unit. I honestly don't even see how your phone could possibly be showing the incoming call with your own number but with the name of the caller. Unless the phone itself has some sort of hidden feature or defect where #5 actually manipulates the caller ID to your own number, there really is no explanation. A reset of the handset / base unit would be the only way to correct it.
