It's a more than a week now since i started paying at least 2 hours a days trying to figure out how to switch on Vonage from UAE where ISP is blocking Voip.

After some trials i was able to get the V-portal get the internet connection through my Notebook with VPN service where all ports are open supposedly.

The weird behaviour now that i kindly ask for an assistance is :
After internet is getting connected and IP address retrieved, the message is retrieving profile that takes 3-5 min then the v-portal reboots reaching the same stage again and again ..?

Any help or any other better idea to make Vonage work from UAE?

Guys!

This is my last chance before killing my Vonage!
Vonage sales PROMISED me that it will work in UAE, and now they deny this and say if ISP is blocking Voip they cannot help me!

I am alone in the wild with defective gun!! Thanks VONAGE!!! surprise is endless with Vonage, they want me to pay them 39.99 CAD if i canceled in the first month !!!!!

Guys! appreciate any EMERGENCY ! HELP..

First off, do not put this on Vonage at all. You say sales told you that it can work in UAE. That's right it can work in the UAE if you have a broadnband connection just like it can work anywhere with a broadband connection but it is not up to the sales force, the tech staff, or Vonage as a US based company to track which ISP's it what countries may be blocking the SIP protocol. This is why Vonage sells and ships to only countries they offer service in.

The terms of service even state that using Vonage outside the United States is use at your own risk. Vonage does not even need to offer you support in the UAE.

10.4 Use of Service and Device by Customers Outside the United States.
Although we encourage you to use our service to call foreign countries from the United States and to use our service as you travel, the services are only offered and supported in the United States. Our service is designed to work generally with unencumbered high-speed internet connections. However, if the high-speed internet connection you are using is not within a Vonage service area or your ISP or broadband provider places restrictions on using Voip services, we do not claim that they will allow you to use our service. You will be solely responsible for any violations of local laws and regulations or violations of ISP and broadband provider terms of service because of your use of our service.

Now for the actual technical problem your having. Stuck at retrieving profile just means that the device detects an IP address on the WAN port. However since it never pulls the profile and reboots is an indication that the IP it is getting is not an IP that has the ability to communicate over the internet. The point of Voip or SIP being blocked in the UAE or any country for that matter is for the Voip protocol. Pulling a profile has nothing to do with Voip or SIP. It uses the TFTP and HTTP protocol which would not be blocked and therefore means you have a basic network issue.

Since you are trying to utilize your laptop as a router to feed data through a VPN with Internet Connection Sharing, there is much that can go wrong so without the specific data such as the network information on the WAN port of the Vonage device, there is little that anyone can do for you.
