I did notice a similar thread topic, but this occurs whenever the Vonage box is plugged into the network, not when it is being used to make calls.
I just signed up last week and got my box on Tuesday. I am running DSL only (no land line) on BellSouth DSL (well AT&T now since the buyout). If I can not resolve this issue, then the box goes back before my 30 days and I'll find another Voip solution.
My home network consists of a Westel B90 DSL modem, a Linksys Network Hub NH1005, and 2 PCs running Ubuntu Linux.
I have tried setting up the system as Modem -> Vonage -> Hub -> PCs but I got no internet connectivity thru the hub when doing so.
I've had it setup as Modem -> Hub -> Vonage & 2 PCs to hub and get connectivity, but also random disconnects. Also tried Modem -> Hub -> 1PC & Vonage -> 1PC which was stable for about 16 hours before the problem came back. This method at least let me admin the Vonage box.
I had turned off the firewall and other some other settings of the Vonage box in an effort to troubleshoot this problem, and thought I had it fixed last night before the disconnects came back. Removing the Vonage box from the network resolved the disconnect issue completely, but then of course there is not Vonage service.
I do not need any of the additional features of the Vonage box other than for it to make phone calls and not disconnect my DSL so my ideal configuration would be to hang the box off the hub with the minimum configuration so it does not disconnect my DSL. I can only assume that the Vonage box is somehow conflicting with something in the DSL modem that is causing this issue.
Oh, almost forgot to mention, the Vonage box is a reconditioned (free) VDV21RB - VD
PPPoE is not enabled on the Vonage box nor required for connectivity.
Here are some log files from my DSL modem in the hopes they will shed some light on the issue:
Thanks for any assistance you can provide. eb

Is your Vonage device hooked to the home phone wiring? If it is, try hooking a phone direct to the device. With DSL on your home wiring, the Vonage device needs to be hooked differently if hooked to the home wiring. |

The phone out goes directly to my cordless phone base station. It does not touch any house phone wires.
Last night I left the Vonage box unplugged for about 6 hours of streaming video service without and had no disconnects, then plugged it back in before passing out. The major headache of these disconnects is having to restart whatever show I was watching when my modem resets.
