Hardwired Condo Buzzer & VoIP Question

My condo has a hardwired buzzer system and doesn't call a telephone number.

I want to connect the VoIP and the line from the buzzer into one telephone. I tried to be creative, and used a line splitter in reverse (VoIP and the buzzer into the splitter, and one line into the phone), but it doesn't seem to work for the buzzer although VoIP works without problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get it to work, or another idea?

I would suggest a 2-line telephone. Wire the Vonage service and the buzzer line to an RJ-14 jack and plug in a phone with two lines.

If the buzzer remains connected to the Vonage device (as it is now, if they are both connected to the same phone) you risk damage to the Vonage device.
