No Luck in getting my Phone working Sad Here is my setup: Cable Modem>D-Link DI-704P Router> Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter. With The D-Link router I went to the Web based setup menu>advanced>application>and enabled all the ports as per the manual, 5060-5061, 53, 69, 10000-20000. I Did the shutdown and reboot of all the devices, assigned an IP to the PAP2, dialed 80#, hung it up, and waited 5 Min. Still know LED is lit up and no Dial tone. This has been about a week process and no phone service yet Sad HELP!!!!!

Have you tried connecting the PAP2 directly to your modem as a test?

the pap2 should work right off the bat, especially if it's directly connected to the cable modem. Can you take that device back and get another one? if not, is it possible your isp is blocking ports?
one thing I would like to know...when the pap2 connects to the internet and Vonage updates it, the web config screen gets locked. I believe the default IP for the pap2 is http://192.168.0.2. put that in your browser and see if you can access the web config menus.

actually the ip will be whatever is assigned to it, there wouldn't be a default on that type of device (right? anyone?)

Well, I suspected the PAP2 as the problem, so I took it back and went ahead and changed to a Linksys RT31P2 router, and the same problem exist Sad No Dial Tone/Phone LED not lit. I re-booted all the devices,ie,Cable Modem, RT31, and all PC's attached. I live in Washington State and Have Comcast as my provider. I also called the Vonage Help Line, waited, waited, waited. I am thinking of ditching this service, 2 weeks and no phone yet Sad And this was supposed to be an "easy Setup" ?????
Thanks for your help,
Theodore

Hello,

The default ip for the PAP2 is : 192.168.102.1
The default ip for the RT31p2 : 192.168.15.1

Try using a browser and accessing the RT at 192.168.15.1

If you get a blank white screen you might need to set a static IP to get connected. You need a pc directly to the RT to do this.

To set a static do this:

IP Address: 192.168.15.99
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.15.1

Now go to the ADMIN tab then factory default (reset) and choose the yes button and save settings. The RT will flash phone 1 &2 lights once and go off, then will flash in 20 secs and go off. Then the internet will flash quickly. If you see that you are almost home free.

Hopefully the phone 1 light will get a solid green and you will have a dial tone. If after 2 minutes no solid, then turn off the modem and rt, the reboot the modem first, wait till you get the solid lights then power up RT.

Remember after you get a dial tone to go back to network settings on pc and set to automatic so you will get internet back.

Sincerely,
VonageBest
