Post subject: Newbie looking into Vonage
Hi, please be patient. I have not yet signed up for
Vonage
, but the more I look into it, the better it looks. I have one main concern.
Phone number transfer. Is it possible to use my POTS line up until the day it is transferred or do I have to use the temporary virtual number
Vonage
gives me until the number is switched over?
I am just trying to avoid giving people a new number until my old one is back.
Also I am looking into the LinkSys PAP2-CU phone adapter.
Anyone using this adapter?
CompUSA has it for 70.00 with 70.00 rebates right now. So its free in the end.
Please let me know what my options are as I am very interested in
Vonage
. I have been to the Forums and everyone has thier own review on all the different
Voip
companies and its a 50-50 view on everything.
Thanks
reebok

you have to keep your pots line active or you won't be able to tranfer the number. personally, I just used pots until lnp was complete (like you were saying). this made it very seemless.
the pap2 is fine, you need a network in place already to use it though (a router). otherwise if you order directly from
Vonage
they'll send you a linksys RT31P2 which is a router. it's $9.95 for shipping.
search this forum for more info on it. here's one to start:
