I recently moved to Vonage world plan. Since then whenever I call India my voice is not heard at the other end. I can hear their voice but my voice is totally broken. I called vonage customer care but of no use. They did usual troubleshooting which didn't helped.
Does anybody had faced this problem ?
Thanks |

Yes I have the same issue.I moved to Vonage 5 days ago , Calls made during first 2 days was great not issues. But from 3rd day trouble started. People at the other end cannot hear me or voice is breaking. I can hear them w/o any issue. This is only calls made to India. called other countries and have no issues.
I called vonage and they created a ticket and told me that their technical team will look into it and will have a resolution by end of Tuesday !
Thanks

We also have same problem when calling India. It's HORRIBLE voice quality and we can hear other person loud and clear, but they cannot hear us.
We also went through lots of settings but no luck. I was told to change the voice quality settings in Bandwidth Saver option in portal to low. I changed, but no difference. Tried all other quality options. I have 18mbps Comcast line and I have Vonage hooked up directly to Comcast Modem.
Also tried QOS settings in V-portal but same issue. My other friends also bought same device and all having these issues. We all are thinking of returning Vonage and going back to Packet8.
Eventhough vonage provides free india calling, quality is so poor that it's better to pay some cents per call and use Reliance or Raza. |

So, I am having the same issue as well. I called vonage tech support and happened to get an Indian techie. He diagnosed the issue by tracing my calls on a vonage test server. What we noticed is that calls dialed to a BSNL line in India is having issues. Calls made to non-BSNL lines ( we mainly tried mobile numbers across the country - TN, Gujarat etc.) were successful. The vonage techie seems to think this has to do with the large volume of calls routed through BSNL VOIP servers to BSNL land-line numbers. Most numbers in India that start with a 2 are BSNL numbers.
I would appreciate it if you would also try the same and write back on this post if you are experiencing success on non_BSNL #'s |

Our most of the phone calls were to Vodaphone(Hutch), Idea mobile phones only. very few of them were made to BSNL and Reliance land lines but still all having issues.
One thing I noticed is, if you call in non-peak time, for example at 11pm Sunday night, your calls will work fine. Still you have 2-3 seconds silence every 2-3 minutes in a call and I could never figure out why we get that silence.
I will post some more tomorrow. If there is an issue with BSNL in peak time, why Reliance Global call and Raza works fine?? |

cds - good question. I asked the vonage techie the same question. He repsonded saying that Reliance, Raza, GTalk etc use PSTN lines for routing their calls and do not use VoIP servers in India. Not sure how far that is true, but thats what the VT claimed. |

I guess this entire world call plan for 25$ is a carrot to get more folks to sign up and then display the same in terms of stock trading of vonage stocks. now that they realized that they burnt their pocket providing unlimited calls to India; they are making it difficult to talk to India.
bad business practice overall. might as well have a lmited minutes if the corp can't afford unlimited calls to India |

I tried calling BSNL, Reliance network, IDEA, AIRTEL and all were same. Vonage is just fooling us. 7 days back they told me that this is a known issue and their engineers are working on it. According to them it should have been fixed in 48 hours. But till date there is no improvement.
I have 3 other friends of mine using this world plan. Surprisingly for them it works fine.
I am totally frustrated with this service and I think I should just switch over to some other service. |
