Post subject: Vonage can't port -- any ideas why?
We're looking to switch to
Vonage
. But, they are saying they can't port our number but don't have a reason why. The number was originally with Windstream and was ported to Time Warner phone service a year and a half ago. When I check on the
Vonage
site it says they can't port, but if I do the same check on the Verizon Wireless site they say they can. Why would one be able to and the other can't?

Give them a call... if you've ported from your original provider to another they may be able to work with you. For example, my cell number was originally with Nextel but I've hopped from them to about every company under the sun in the last six or so years. They may be looking at your prefix and identifying the original company that "owned" the number and faulting you without knowing who truly "holds" your number now. Does that make sense? If not, I guess I need more coffee.
