I wanted to buy Vonage couple days ago but darn Etrade made me wait 3 days for fund xfer. I guess its too late now.
But why the surge ? Short covering or some big institution buying ? |

400% gain on no news announcement from VG and no recent earnings release reeks of insider trading to me. If they are being acquired, expect to see some people going to jail for the activity this week. |

Whatever the cause, there is rampant speculation going on. The average number of VG shares traded per day used to average well under 1M. On Friday, 81M shares changed hands. |

For anyone new to investing in Penny Stocks, you should first be made aware of the differences between these micro-cap stocks and the more conventional blue-chip and mid-cap investments. Unlike buying shares in a large, stable company like Ford or IBM, you are dealing with speculative investments. |

Penny Stocks, or micro cap stocks, are loosely defined as stocks which sell below $5 and have market capitalization of below $50 million. They are largely traded on the OTC Bulletin Board and on the Pink Sheets Electronic Quotation Service, which exist primarily for the listing of stocks which cannot be listed on stock exchanges, such as the NYSE. |
