Post subject: Connecting vonage in my dorm (residence)???
Hey everyone,
I want to connect my V-portal in my dorm. I have an ethernet cable from the wall connected to my V-portal. But the V-portal gives me a message after retrieving the profile:
Error[code 002]
Check of your internet is down. Try restarting modem for dsl. check PPPoE setup.
My internet connection is OK beccause if I disconnect the cable from the vportal and connect it to the pc it works.
I dont have access to the modem because is a building
Internet connection doesnt need identification you just connect the cable!
Can someone helo me plz???
thank u!

Run ipconfig /all with the pc connected and online to the wall port and post the info here
Contact your school's IS dept and tell them what you are trying to do.

Likely your school is blocking the outbound ports to connect to

. Your standard web traffic that is working is running over 80 or 443. It could also be that they're using a web proxy. Do you have to logon to your campus computer with a userid and password?
