I just signed up with Vonage to get a voip phone line for my start up home based business and was wondering if I should add the new number to the do not call list on www.donotcall.gov website?

What my dilemma is whether do companies put their phone numbers on the do not call list to avoid junk calls or they don't because it would effect their business from some other angle I am not familiar with?

I know, that this is not a technical question, but suddenly I didn't have a clue who could give me an answer, and I thought, that most likely there are business owners among this forum users who already made up their mind about this dilemma long time ago.

I can't see any business problem with putting your number on the donotcall list but.... is there anyone who thinks this has really worked? I saw a huge increase in telemarketing calls after putting my number on the list. I wouldn't do it again.

Both of our cellphones and the land line phone is on the list and as a result we receive only 1 junk call every 6 months.

If you receive telemarketer calls after being on the Do Not Call List -turn them in. It is illegal for them to call you unless you have been their customer in the past year.
