Well its 6:44AM on Friday and I see the service announcment is gone. So I tried calling my Vonage number from my landline 5 times in a row and got NAME/NUMBER every time. So I guess for now in 813 the caller id name/number is working Now to get my UltimateTV DVR to dial out with Vonage and I will be 100% happy with the service and LNP the landline phone over to Vonage |

I have examined 17 Caller ID displays from my telephone list. All had the proper name shown. Now, to the numbers. The number display format is, of course, unimportant since they will all dial the phone for you to reply to the caller. I am curious, though. Some numbers are displayed in the traditional format: AAA-PPP-NNN. Others are displayed in the 11 digit Vonage format: 1AAAPPPNNNN. Although there is a lack of consistency, and both formats will redial the phone, what is the correct format? |

Since you no longer need to dial the area code in your own area code, i have my motorola phones set to format to just the regular number for 615 area code ###-####. For all others, I have it format to add the 1 and of course the area code. However, I just cycled the formatting on a local number and it dialed it in all three formats. Further, I just reformatted a long-distance call to drop the 1 and it dialed it too. It seems it doesn't matter how it's set.
Also, though, if you've not read the tip, when I dial anybody I add # at the end -- it makes the call go through a lot faster.
