Post subject: Not getting local calls...
Recently switched and ported my phone from Fairpoint (old Verizon) to
Vonage
. I can receive long-distance and cell phone calls without issue. However, I can not receive local phone calls. When dialed from a local phone the number just rings and does not go to voice mail.
I am told this is a routing table issue, how can I get this fixed? Fairpoint refuses to acknowledge the issue as "I am no longer a customer."
Thoughts on this issue? Help greatly appreciated.

This seems to be a common occurrence with FairPoint recently. What happened is that when your phone number was ported out, FairPoint failed to remove routing data from their switching equipment so when other callers with FairPoint try to call you, FairPoint is still trying to connect the call to the old destination.
Vonage
can escalate the issue through the available channels to resolve it. However, it is often much quicker for a current FairPoint customer to report the trouble to FairPoint as the problem is really that the FairPoint customers' service is broken, not yours. What the FairPoint customer should do is report the trouble that they cannot call your number from their FairPoint line but call from a cell phone. Don't mention
Vonage
though... the FairPoint rep is likely to try to shife the blame.
