Hello
I am Vonage Uk for about 6 months now, I am fairly happy with service, till i moved house, In my new house there is no broadband hence no telephone box is available.
I had to take Mobile Broadband which is fairly working good for me, Tested skype working fine as well. Speed is 3.6 MBPS
Now its possible to connect my V-portal to the interent becasue Mobile broadband use USB to connect. I am therefore unable to get my RJ45 get internet for my V-portal.
I have seen Vonage usb V-phone online, called the CS but they advised that they can not ship this to the UK!!!! (Given no reason)!
I knew i can get from ebay but i have to pay custom clearance fee + shipping it all cost around £53. !!!!
I need help if anyone here come across this here in the Uk or can tell me where can i get it. or any replacement for such USB phone?....
I have come a cross Tesco USB phone it is available for £24, but i am not sure whether its compitable with Vonage service or not?!
Any one has an idea how to solve my problem to get my service back again.. Please do help me.
Many thanks for help.. |

You can share your internet connection from your wireless network to the wired jack on the back of your desktop/laptop. Do a search for Internet Connection Sharing. This will get you setup. |

Hi:
As for 'bridging' your wireless/broadband connection for Vonage use - it should work OK, albeit with less convenience than a wires connection (I had to do that with my Vonage/D-Link VTA when away last XMas & was acceptable for a week but wouldn't want to rely on it for a perminate connection, as the PC needs to be active for it to work).
As for the USB Phone - 'working' is a relative term. As an speaker/microphone it should work OK based upon the speaker/microphone of your PC & setting the Vonage software to use it rather then the 'default' setting. BUT its unlikely some of the more advanced features will work, such as the keypad for dialing & lifting the received to answer.
BTW - for ~18 months I used the Vonage SoftPhone & both the SJ Labs & CounterPath/XTen software plus a Voip Voice CyberPhone USB handset. The CyberPhone USB handset worked fine - picking up the handset answered the phone, punching in the #'s on the handset dialed. I tested a couple of other (smaller/more portable) handsets & was able to get them to work as a speaker/microphone but still had to use the SJ Labs or CounterPath/XTen software to dial/answer the calls. I then switched to the Vonage V-Phone, as it had a bit more flexability than the Vonage SoftPhone but could not get the CyberPhone USB to answer/dial directly, so I eventually stopped carrying the handset around. About 6 months ago, after another ~18 months with the V-Phone, I started 'missing' having a handset, so started carrying around the Vonage/D-Link VTA & a small handset - from my perspective thats the most convienient solution - but I have 3 VTAs each with a handset connected (1 at home-1 at the office-1 at the hotel when I travel) & I simply 'move' the Vonage # between the devices via the Vonage web site based upon where I am.
Hope this helps.
