Location: Des Plaines, IL (just a few miles NW of Chicago)
ISP: Comcast Cable
Speed: 6MB down 1 MB up
Modem: WebSTAR DPC2100R2
Vonage adapter: RTP300
Setup: Modem ---> WRT54G ---> RTP300
Issue: For the last few months, I've been experiencing Vonage outages that are not tied to any problems with my internet connection. I run a line monitor of my internet on another site and hence have confidence this is not the problem. The basic issue is this: internet works perfectly fine, but for whatever reason I lose my Vonage network connection which results in no dial tone and all calls forwarded to my network availability number. I can fix this problem by simply power cycling the modem and router but I want to figure out why this is happening because it's becoming a pain in the rear.
Unfortunately I'm not at home right now so don't have a Voip test result to share but will post one later. Just wanted to get the ball rolling to see if this was an issue that has come up in the past. Admittedly, both my wireless router and my RTP300 are a bit old having gotten them some 4+ years ago.
Thanks in advance. |

So no help here? I tried to run the Voip test but got a message back that said "expired". Not sure what that meant but I'd post results if I could. |

When you picked up your phone and there was no dialtone, did you hear a message that says something like your Vonage device cannot connect to the Vonage network? If not, the device is suspect. Though it might not be the device per-se but the power supply. |

I do get a message saying the Vonage service is not available. Everything works fine except the dial tone isn't there. |
