There's so much chatter about the PAP2 password. I've read about it on several other web sites. My thoughts are that there is no SINGLE UNIVERSAL password for ALL pap2 devices. There has to be a way to set the password on each customer's device uniquely, to a random value.
Siemens/Efficient uses a technology for their SpeedStream DSL devices (mine is one of them.) They send a raw Ethernet packet to the device DSL MAC address containing a username/password pair. That pair is valid for a few minutes. I use a program written specifically for the Speedstream 5100/5200 so I can check quality of the DSL line, and make sure MCI does not reduce the provisioned bandwidth. I send it a packet containing username/password 123/123 and login using that info. Here's the author's page containing the program and readme. http://www.gabrielstrong.com/SpeedStream5200FTP_readme.html
What if LinkSys is using the same technology? It is much more likely to create username/password pairs on the fly for every device on demand, than keep a SINGLE PASSWORD a secret! doesn't that make sense?
So using Ethereal and a hub, one should be able to sniff out packets during a customer service diagnostic session. |

I believe I have the password to enable/disable web interface. Please email with the request and I will see if it works with one person before I tell everyone about it.

If the web interface is disabled.. how exactly do you configure say a static IP address on it? |

Here it is People. Took a while. I have confirmed that it works with another Forum member. The new firmware 3.1.3 though has them stumped on why there own username and password defaults arent working now. I will have that information soon hopefully.
Anyway here yah go!
YAE ME!
Press ****
hit 7932# then when it asks for the password, hit 78196365# Choose 1# to enable. Hang up. This will enable the Web Server for your PAP2 |
