If they opened up a little to SIP connections almost anyone could set up their own wakeup service that calls into SIP comaptible phones.

It would take a linux box and a couple of days worth of playing with scripts.

This is too funny.. My alarm clock used to be voice mail from my local phone company. I would set my outcall notification to call back my number to tell me I had voicemail.. I would then send a message to myself and delay the delivery to when I had to wake up.. When the message was sent, my phone would ring.. Plus the voicemail would try every five minutes if I didn't answer.. It was like a snooze function..

I think a wake up call feature would be excellent.. Also a reminder feature (Appointment reminder, birthday reminder, or medication reminder) would be a great feature to have...

I go on business trips alot. I always find a hotel that got High speed internet so I can use my vonage ATA.. I then unplug the phone from the room and plug it into my ATA.

Once I do that, I cannot call the hotel operator and tell them to give me a wake up call.. So yes, a wake up call feature would be really handy..

A bit of a liability issue though. I used to work in a business hotel that got sued because one of the guests did not get their wake up call. They had a important business meeting, slept through it, lost business/had damages and won the suit.

It seems to me like signing a waiver or acknowledging a TOS would do the trick in modern society, as I had worked in the hotel long before anyone knew what an electronic signature was. Heck, no one knew or could even imagine what a "web site" would be. Ah those were the days.

Seems like Vonage could just incorporate it into their TOS the way they do for their 911 feature, eh?

Anyway, it seems like a great way to beef up Vonage as "the businessperson's service"... it would really complement their 'Take Vonage on the Road' angle. I was just thinking about it last night before stumbling on this thread.

Incidentally, doesn't Vonage block 900 numbers?

Yes I want it. I am not a customer yet. I am shoping now. If Vonage offered this I would definatelly choose them over anyone else.

Geez that sounds all complicated, though simple... sorta.

My old phone company had a "reminders" and it could be set for one specific day, weekdays, or seven days a week. six days a week would have been helpful as I had to work every Saturday.

You could have it call once, or call multiple times if you did not answer your phone or listen to the message it left on your voicemail. It would tell you about your reminder, whether it was a one time reminder, a daily, or a weekday and then you could listen to whatever you had recorded.

I liked how it would send you a message if you didn't answer. You could also have another number called when you recieved a message. Or you could just plain forward all your calls.

I guess for those nights when you wake up in someone else's bed Wink after a crazy night of partying you could still get a message that you had a message, which in the case of wake up calls, would effectively be your wakeup call.

I had mine set to my beeper. If I did not get my messages it would periodically call me back and buzz me again.

Give people a couple options and they run with it.

Damn you people are creative!!! I never woulda thunk of such an option but yet it does seem to make sense (for some people).
