I have a Dlink router, Motorola(silver) modem and dual line Vonage box.

The modem is from At&T. I have an 8 meg DSL conntection. It is just a standard modem. The router has a "WAN" plug and plugs 1-4. On the front of the router are lights "wan" and for the 4 ports. Under the port numbers on the Dlink are the words Link/Act.

My friend helped me set it up with the router. Although the second computer had a bad lag when playing online games it worked and functioned fairly well. My friend is now gone and I have no clue how to hook it back up.

Obviously I was able to properly hook up Vonage and the the internet. I have a black cord connected to my computer(ethernet) that connects into the back of the Vonage yellow port. A blue cord goes from the blue Vonage to the DSL. I am left with 2 yellow cables one is still plugged into the back of the other computer one goes somewhere but I do not know!!!!! The colors are switched due to length issues.

I think there are 4 cords! Some power cords... Some phone cords... Each cord has 2 ends... It is like 8 cords. Each cord goes here and the. Each cord is a different but perfect length BUT OMG OMG OMG! I am so confused. I can not get the router to work. I tried this cord here that one there and the other one somewhere else. Nothing works Sad

I disconnected everything while speaking to a rep and forgot where they go. It all worked last night so I am confident it is user error. Sorry about all the word!

So easiest thing to do would be not to break your working Internet. The colors of the Etherhet cables and their lenghs have no meaning or relavence to anyone other then you. They all work the same but longer lengths might be needed do to the distance between everything your connecting.

1) Leave the Blue cord that connects the Vonage box to the DSL modem in place.

2) Unplug the black Ethernet cable that connects your computer to the yellow LAN port on the Vonage box.

3) Connect one end of an unused Ethernet cables(color does not matter) to the yellow LAN port on the Vonage box. Connect the other end of this Ethernet cable to the port marked WAN on your D-Link router.

4) Power up D-Link router and if already was powered up, unplug the power for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

5) Connect the black Ethernet cable that is still connected to your PC to port 1 on the D-Link router.

6) Reboot computer.

You should have internet at this point. The only reasons you would not is if:

A) You did not connect the cables as stated above.
B) Your D-Link routers WAN settings is configured for PPPoE. (in this case perform a factory reset on your D-Link router)
C) Your PC has a static IP of which was configured when it was connected to the Vonage box.(in this case, you would need to set your computer to use DHCP)
4) Some sort of odd DHCP issue where D-Link is not getting an IP address from the Vonage box.
5) DNS issue.
