Please help, as I'm at my wit's end here. My SB5101 died and Comcast replaced it with a new one. Now, my Vonage box is no longer working. I have tried power cycling to no avail. If i Connevt the cable modem to the computer, it works. If I ocnnect Vonage to my parent's DSL, it works. But if I connect my cm and Vonage together it doesn't work. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks!

Just a simple thing to try:

1) Physically unplug the power from the modem and the Vonage adapter and turn off the pc

2) Connect everything like modem -> Vonage -> pc

3) After a couple of minutes, plug the power back into the modem

4) Wait until it fully boots up (couple of minutes)

5) Plug in the power to the Vonage adapter

6) Once the phone is registered, power on the pc

You may need to configure the Vonage phone adapter by entering the MAC address of your computer on the router page of the Vonage adapter. Only then the Vonage adapter will be recognized by the Comcast cable modem.

Tried both suggestions with no success. Also , went inot hte 2442's setup and under DHCP I noticed all the setitings read NA. The boxes aren't talking to each other for some reason, funny how it works on my parent's connection with no issue.

You had mentioned that it worked with your parents dsl connection. DSL connections require PPPoE information to be entered into the Vonage device. A cable modem connection to the Vonage device does not require PPPoE information. Did you remove the PPPoE information when you reconnected your cable modem to your Vonage device? Try resetting the Vonage device and that should clear out all previous entered information on the VT2442.

Have you tried disconnecting the coaxial cable from the cable modem during the network powercycle? (more than once)

I have tried a reset of the Vonage device, but I haven't tried removing the coax during hte powercycle from the cm, I will try that next.

When you have the VT2442 connected to the cable modem, does the Internet light on the VT2442 light up and the PC light on the modem light up?

Also, when you connect your computer to the modem, are you using an ethernet cord or a USB cord?
