I have a RTP300 that has given itself a new IP address and it is 169.254.213.52
I have tried to ping the router, power cycle the router and more and cannot get into the settings page and edit anything.
I tried to set my network adapter to 169.254.213.1 to get on the same network but pinging the router still does not work.
I would like to get back to the default IP address.
Any ideas? |

169.254.x.x is an autoconfiguration address. It is not a real address and you should not be assigning it to anything. This means it is not getting an IP address via DHCP. When you see a network device has this type of IP address, you need to find out why it is not getting an IP address from the DHCP server.
If you want help, you need to first provide details such as who your ISP is, what is the make and modem of your cable or DSL modem, and how each component is connected when the RTP300 gets this autoconfiguration address.
Example:
ISP: Comcast
Cable modem Motorola SB-5100 -> WAN port on RTP300 -> PC
or
Cable modem Motorola SB-5100 -> WAN port on Router Netgear MR-814 -> WAN port on RTP300 -> PC |

Thanks for the fast reply
ISP - verizon
Modem - Actiontech GT704WG
The RTP300 is wired to a port on the Actiontech. Computers on the RTP cannot get to the internet and are not seen by the Actiontech.
When the computer wired to the RTP searches for the gateway I get the 169.254
In the settings area of the actiontech the RTP is being seen as having the IP address 192.168.1.66 but i am not able to access the RTP with that IP address.
Thanks |

There is still some information missing here. The 192.168.1.66 is the IP on the WAN port of the RTP300 which is being assigned to it via the ActionTech. Is the phone service working on the RTP300? If the answer is yes and the only problem is with PC's connected to the RTP300, then there is a issue between RTP300 and it's DHCP clients. Most likely a DHCP server issue?
When did this problem start? Did you recently change anything? Add new hardware? What operating systems are running on the PC's connected to the RTP300? Have you performed a factory reset on the RTP300? |

I have used the factory reset and is apparently not working.
Everything is that same as it always has been.
I am running XP Pro, Vista and Mac OSX10.
I tried to reset it again and i am still getting the 169.254...
Maybe i am not conducting the reset properly?
Thanks |
