The reason I say this is because of your layout. Your Netgear router is physically making the internet connection not the Vonage VT2442.
The next thing we would need to know is if when your internet goes out, is it happening on a computer that wirelessly connects to the Netgear or a hardwired computer? If the computer is hardwired, is it connected to an Ethernet port on the VT2442 or the Netgear.
If this occurs on a hardwired computer that is connected to the Netgear router or to a wireless computer, then the issue is between the modem and the Netgear router as the VT2442 is not even involved here as it sits behind the Netgear.
My main pc is hardwired to my vt2442. Some more maybe helpful info. Here is the order again of my setup. cable modem to wireless router to vt2442 hardwired to main pc My pc and my laptop have both lost internet even though we still have a strong signal and my main pc says we are connected. To get back on the net I would unplug the vt2442 and reset it . Just as of 2 nights ago the phone would go out whenever I go to a wesite. I get a busy signal, that turns into the sound you get when your phone is off the hook. I checked my event viewer and one said " The Ip address lease 192.168.15.2 for the network card has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.15.1 ( the DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message). If that means anything. IS there a set of settings I should be checking on my pc? where nad what should they be?.
ONLY with the Vonage phone service and a computer that directly connects to the VT2442 but does not affect a computer connected to the Netgear, the issue is with the VT2442. |

Let me try this again. My response has become entangled with yours. My order is cable modem to the wireless modem to the vt2442 to the pc. all wired together. vt2442 is hardwired to the pc. My phone has something like a busy tone leading into a phone off the hook sound whenever i click on a website. Before this problem, I had a problem of losing a connection to the internet on both the main pc and a laptop that uses the wireless. It happened randomly. On my event viewr It said. The ip address lease 192.168.15.2 for the network card has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.15.1. (the DHCP server sent a DHCPNack message). If that means anything. Is there settings I should be checking on my PC?. Or on my wireless?. And where can i find them and get to them on my pc. I have windows xp |
