I may pull the plug on both of my base Voip services including Vonage. Is is possible to discontinue the service and hold or park the number so that every inbound call to the Vonage # is automatically routed to my cell phone? I am willing to pay a small monthly fee for that. And if 'park' is the wrong name for this, what is the correct name? Thanks. |

In effect you are just wanting to call forward all your calls. The only thing I can think is to call Vonage and switch to the $9.99 plan which gives you no outbound minutes but you still have service. Login to the website and setup your account to use the Network Availability Number and forward that to your cell. You can then unplug your ATA. As long as you still pay your monthly or annual bill your number will work. |

Do I still accrue any minutes on Vonage? |

If you had the Acct Management team place you on the $9.99 which does not have any outbound minutes included, each forwarded call to a non Vonage line would be billed at a rate of 3.9 cents a minute. You have to remember that a forwarded call to an off net number is rated the same way as a direct dialed number. So while you would have unlimited incoming which means unlimited for calls that terminate on the Vonage network, you would be billed for any call that terminates to a number not on the Vonage network.
If you want to keep your number and not port it to another provider, this may be the cheapest alternative unless you forward more then 128 minutes or so per month. Then it would be cheaper to stay on the 500 minute plan at $14.99. |

Just an FYI. The 500 minute plan rate is now $17.99. It changed a few months back. |

I was thinking something more along the lines of porting the number to some other service which does nothing but route inbound calls. |

Since this is a Vonage forum, I was looking for a way to do what you wanted with Vonage. I just did a quick google of "save your phone number". The first result is www.parkmyphone.com. They have several different plans. However the one that "forwards" to another number is $10/month with 500 minutes/month. It looks like it is going to cost you about ~$10. |
