This may be an exceedingly stupid question, but I haven't been able to find a clear-cut, direct answer anywhere. Does caller ID appear on my handsets when someone calls me, or do I have to go scrambling through my house to check the Vonage box every time the phone rings? |

The Vonage box does not display caller ID at all. Caller ID is displayed on your telephone as if it were connected to a regular phone line. If your handset is capable of displaying caller ID, it will appear on the handset. |

Actually, Caller ID information is displayed on the LCD display that is built in to the VDV21 "Voice Portal" Vonage Device. Other Vonage devices do not display it at all. But all Vonage devices, including the VDV21, send Caller ID to your telephone set. If the telephone set can display it, it will do so.
On a related subject, and as discussed elsewhere in this forum, when you place a call using any Vonage service, the call recipient's Caller ID display will show your number, but usually will not show your name. |
