A little background information. I have Vonage service with two Linksys PAP2 adaptors with two lines on each adaptor. ISP is Verizon DSL at 768/128. That's the best service Verizon can provide due to distance from switch. I have to set Bandwidth Saver to 30kbps for each voice line. Call quality is barely acceptable.

I shopped around for alternatives and the only option I could find is fixed wireless. No Verizon FIOS in my area and my cable company doesn't have service in this area (unbelievable). I researched several fixed wireless providers and gave each my requirements. Of course the answer was "No problem, we can help you."

I finally selected an ISP, had the service installed, and connected to my router. Blazing fast speed and everything worked like it did with DSL. Except for my Vonage adaptors. The ISP provides a private IP address with my account. When we started everything up after the install, I could only get Line 1 on each PAP2. Even if we connected their cable directly to a PAP2, there was still only Line 1. No matter what the installer tried, I could only get Line 1 on each adaptor. Final conclusion from installer: "It's a Vonage problem."

Is there a difference between Verizon's public IP address and fixed wirelless private IP address? Any solutions to get both lines on both PAP2's? Thanks.

It's not a problem of the Private IP. It is most likely a problem with the NAT traversal being performed by the ISP or a configuration issue on your end.

Think of it like this. When using the DSL, you still have a local area network meaning your PC and both PAP2's had private IP's assigned to them by the DSL modem which may have also been a router or you have your own router that the PA2's and your PC sits behind. Your modem or router had a public IP while everything else behind the NAT had a private.

The only difference in the network now is that instead of your WAN being assigned a public IP they are assigning you private IP. You must have you own router to put your PC and PAP2 behind so your router is getting the Private IP from the ISP. Each network component behind your router then gets it's own private IP for your local area network from your router.

You are quite right about the DSL configuration. The modem was also a router and it had a public IP address, etc. I fully understand that. However, when I switched to the wireless ISP, we installed a new router which gets a private IP address. The two computers and two PAP2's are connected to the router. Both PAP2's get an IP address, but will only get line 1. The Tech tried several "fixes" and ultimatelly declared "it's a Vonage problem and we don't support that." The mystery to me is why does each PAP2 only get line 1 when connected to the router as you described?

I asked the Tech if he could turn off the routing function at the antenna and he said that had nothing to do with the issue. I think it does, but what do I know. I'd love to get everything to work together because speed is so much faster than Verizon DSL and voice quality on the lines that work is much, much better.

FYI. Line 2 on each PAP2 is connected to alarm company phone lines. They worked just fine with Verizon but notwith the wireless ISP. It just makes no sense to me. Thanks.

As VonTechMgr said, I suspect that the problem is NAT-related. Each line on each device will register itself independently. Its probably an issue with the NAT implementation by the ISP's equipment inadvertently blocking the second connection from each device. How do you connect to the ISP (specifically what kind of equipment do you have)?

You not only changed ISP's but added in a new router. So there are 2 possible points of failure. What is the make and model of the router you added?

The router is a D-Link DI-624. All other equipment is the same as it was with Verizon DSL. The tech installed and set up the router, not me. I don't know what speciific equipment he installed on the roof. I did see something called Canopy when he logged into his box.
