When I got my first Vonage line in 2004, we got the Linksys device with the Star Trek "phaser" background noise. (old timers will remember that) Then they fixed the firmware issue and the noise was gone, but the units were junk and each one we had failed after a year or so.
We fought back, and got Vonage to replace all of our Linksys units with the Motorola VT2442 and life has been GREAT ever since.
I'm going to port my ATT CV line to Vonage today (for those who haven't heard, AT&T is discontinuing CV service) but the only adapter choice now is the V-Portal.
I'd really prefer another Moto unit because I don't need or want the LCD display, and these things look really ugly in the picture.
How are you guys finding the quality and reliability of these units? What brand are they? (Moto, Linksys, other) |

I've ported from ATT CV also. The VDV-21 has been rock solid and call quality has been better than ATT. I believe the router is made by Ambit.
I like the lcd display, but maybe that's just me...YRMV |

You will be pleased. It's much more flexible than CV; the LCD provides useful call, logging, diagnostic and service information. Plus you will no longer get that laborious E911 broadcast warning message when the power fails. I have never had a single problem with it, ever, in more than a year of continuous service. |
