Would a higher frequency work too? And what is a DECT 6?

Yes
You can use a 5.8 phone, but it might interfere with a router that uses 5.8 as well.
DECT stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications.
I think they are using 6 as a indicator that it is newer than 5.8

Google DECT 6 for info

I don't have a seperate router. It's built-in to the modem. Would that be the same? Thanks for all your help, btw.

Yes
Research what you have - and find out what frequency it operates on.
Chances are that a 5.8 will work ok.
