I have the Vonage Business line with which provides line 2 for the fax line. The problem I have is I need the fax line on the 2nd floor and the phone line on the the first floor.
I have an extra Vonage modem from a previous line. Is there any way I can keep the Vonage modem for just the fax line and plug in this other modem downstairs for the voice line, even to point of buying another Vonage modem if I can not use this extra one that I already have.
I can not run an extension line but I already have Cat5 installed on the first floor with extra ports.
Yes you can do that. You can move your lines between devices by using the Move a Line section in your online account (Add-Ons > Move a Line).
If the device isn't active on your account yet, you will need to activate it. You can do that at www.vonage.com/activate and follow the options for existing customer, move existing line, etc.
Gave tech support a call to make sure I did it correctly. In a matter of minutes it was up. Now have the fax line upstairs and the phone line downstairs.
This saved all kinds of headaches running more wire since I had Cat5 already downstairs.
