Looking for good backup power supply

Can anyone recommend a good back up power supply? I never really needed one for my pc, but I'm sure it could keep my cable modem and phone apapter going for a while until commercial power could be restored. I know the cable company can keep their signal going for at least 2hrs after a power outage. Any input is appreciated...Louis Bonk

I have the Belkin Enterprise Series 1100VA UPS Part # F6C1100-UNV and it states that will last up to 100 minutes with a computer. I have never used it for more than a few minutes for the computer because I have it set-up to shut the computer down after saving all open files. I did have the power go out once for just over three hours and had Vonage phone service the whole time.

The unit is priced at $152 on Belkin's website, but you can get for around $100.00 if you look around. I bought mine from www.dell.com for under a $100.00.

Given a UPS' VA rating and how much wattage a device (e.g. ATA) connected to the UPS draws, is there a formula which estimates/calculates how long the device can stay on if the house AC power goes out?
