internet works only when connected through vonage adapter ??

For some reason I can only connect to the internet when I go through the Vonage adapter (motorola vt2442)....

If I connect my pc directly to my dsl modem, I get no internet.

anyone know why this is happening?

Did you restart your computer and dsl modem after removing Vonage device?
Is your computer set to acquire IP address automatically?

What kind of DSL modem are you using? And how are you connecting your PC to it?

If you are trying to connect your PC to the modem via USB and the Vonage device to the modem via Ethernet its not going to work.

i'm using the Huawei SmartAX MT880 modem... been so for a long time now. For the internet to work I have it connected to the Vonage adapter via the ethernet port... no usb connections are being used.

ADSL line >> dsl modem >> Vonage adapter >> pc (internet works)

ADSL line >> dsl modem >> PC (no internet)

i've tried resetting everything many times... and the ip is set to find automatically.

With the Vonage adapter donnected, use your pc to check your IP address from the command prompt using ipconfig /all

Do the same just connected to the DSL modem and post both here

Don't you need to enter your username/password for the PPPoE connection on the computer if you plug it directly into the DSL modem? I assume you did this in the Vonage adapter when you first installed it.
