k, here is my scenario. just moved to an area that can only get satellite internet. unless of course u want dial - up. hooked up sat. then hooked up Vonage, mind you its been 8 mnths since i have had Vonage hooked up. i can get a call, i can make a call, i can hear the other person on the other, but noone can hear me. i have tried different ways to hook it up. nothin worked there. so i went and bought a netgear router, thinking this was what was wrong. NOT is there anyone out there who can direct me in the right direction. I miss my Vonage. at one point i thought of getting a soft phone thinking maybe that will work, but haven't tried it yet. your input will be GREATLY appreciated. thank you |

Vonage is not recommended for satellite internet. There is too much delay from satellite to Vonage adapter and back. |

thats what i thought that u couldn't have both, but the only reason i did it was because both companies told me it could be done. so if i cant have that then can someone tell me different ideas of what to get (preferebly through Vonage if possible) so that we can have a phone line that we can make calls, receive calls, even if its through the computer. i have never made a call through the computer, so you might have to do step-step instructions. and regular phone lines are out of the question. input would be great.... |

That is strange, since on the sign up page for Vonage, if you check sattelite for your bradband type of service , it returns the following:
"Vonage service does not work with Satellite. A land-based high speed Internet connection, such as cable or DSL modem, is required. If you need assistance, please call 1-888-272-4820."
Any Voip service (whether through your computer or an ATA) will suffer delay, which causes problems with real time streaming of voice communications. It simply takes too long for the signal to get to and from the satellite. |
