Post subject: no luck in nyc
I have tried everything in the forum to get the showstopper to work.
dsl filter, *99, , slowing the speed of the modem down (tried all speeds), Does anyone have a solution to the problem? Or is the Answer a timewarner DVR?

As with MOST other issues that run across us here, the biggest component to making ANYTHING work over a
VoIP
line is BANDWIDTH...the more the better. And the more extravegent r network is there at home, the bigger issues u r going to have. Simplicity is best. All things being equal, u all have the same internet service provider, the same ADEQUATE bandwidth, the same type of replay device, and the same type of network at home....you ALL should b able to get your replay devices to dial thru, BUT......this isn't the case. So, some of you are going to experience problems. What I would appreciate from those of you who were sucessful in getting your devices to work is send me a COMPLETE break down of what your network is there at home, what your upload & download bandwidth is as well as type of internet u are using, the make & exact model of replay device or TiVo device u r using, as well as the adjustments u made to the device to get it to dial out. I could use this as reference. Please send me individual PM's with this info, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Post subject: Manually Connect to test connection
To test if your connection and download channel guide is successful, you can connect by typing "243 zones" and selecting "Net Connect".
This will manually connect you now and not waiting til tomorrow to see if connection via
Vonage
is working.
It was mentioned previously in this topic, but the numbers were incorrect... 243 not 234. Caused me much frustration, so I wanted to save others of the same aggravation.
My efforts to connect my Replay with
Vonage
was unsuccessful. With that, the savings with
Vonage
is not worth it if my Replay doesn't work.

I've failed at getting my REPLAY TV to work through
Vonage
as well. I'm using comcast in Illinois, tried lowering the baud rate (was very hopefull) but no luck.
Not sure what I'm going to do about it. Love the price of
Vonage
but hate to lose the ability to use my REPLAY TV....
Was going to look into getting a different WIRELESS OUTLET JACK system and see if it will take..
If anyone in this area somehow got their REPLAY TV to work via dial up, please let me know! I have a REPLAY TV 3060 unit..

I have a Panasonic Showstopper 2000. I just switched to
Vonage
. I am not able to connect anymore. Has anyone had luck getting the 2000 to work? I have tried all the different baud rates and a DSL filter on the line. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I've tried damn near everything to get my replay to work with
vonage
also. No dice. Maybe its just time to pitch the replay and use the htpc and the comcast dvr box.

I gave up. I purchased a 5504 from B&H Photo Video for $99 (before $50 limited time rebate). The 5504 supports a broadband connection. Unfortunately activation is extra. =(

Amazon had (as of two weeks ago) the 5508 with $100 MIR: $164 shipped, $64 after rebate... We got one (gave up trying to get my 3030 to work with
Vonage
). Actually, I'm glad we got the 5508--with DVArchive, we've decided to create a video server, ripping all of our daughter's favorite DVDs the the 5508, then downloading them to the PC running DVArchive. The 5508 then streams them back anytime we want...
Makes me start thinking about getting a second 55xx series for the bedroom too

Post subject: Today I throw in the towel
I love my Showstopper Replay Tv Unit and I love
Vonage
unlike other posts the wait time to talk to someone is long but after getting to a Tech they have all been very helpful. Once my number was ported over I have not been able to connect with
Vonage
's standard settings. If I call in and have them turn off the echo adapter, echo reduction and echo support. I can connect at 28.8kbs with a DSL filter in line backwards and using the *99 command. Get my channel update the call back and have those settings restored. Or else the person you are calling will have a terrible echo. I have tried all modem speeds, filters and tried dialing into other Replay sites in different area codes I even tried Alaska. I am so tried hitting 243 zones to force a connection and get nothing. The reason I am giving up today is because I work in the telecommunication industry.
I know that they have docking stations for cell phones that provide a dial tone (tip and ring) so you can plug you home phone into and take advantage of your cellular minutes. Now when I was doing research on this item it talked about data applications were not supported. But I am thinking that if I can connect at 9600 and get my channel updates life would be good. I bought the unit and got it on sat. I hooked it up it dials in but no connection at any speed. Hooked a standard telephone up to the unit dialed the replay number the handshake tones came in. Then I had the replay unit dial my home number when I answered just white noise no handshake tones. So at this point I am out of ideas frustrated when you see other posts of people connecting ok. No support from either Panasonic or ReplayTV. I have this lifetime channel subscription that the stays with the unit till it is ready for the dumpster. Hopefully there will be a solution in my lifetime.
