Found this in a newsgroup and it worked for me, I needed to set me to 28.8 then 19.2 to get it but its better than no guide at all.
The Solution (to save someone somewhere some time...):
(these are based on a Panasonic ShowStopper 1000 so your mileage may vary)
1. Go to Setup on your Replay.
2. Go to Change Dialing & Input Settings
3. Got to Change Telephone
4. Leave your settings as is until you get to the "special characters"
screen
This is the screen where you can disable call waiting or whatever. Press
the Zones button on your remote and a hidden menu will appear. Change the
modem speed... in my case 33.6 worked (note: setting it all the way down to
9600 as guessed by Vonage support *did not* - no offense to them. They
actually tried to be more helpful than they had to be).
Finish the Setup screens and let it try to connect. This may still not
work... You may need to enter another hidden menu by typing 2,3,4, Zones on
your remote. In this menu click "Net Connect". I had to try this a couple
of times to get a successful connection. |

The post by cplmonte resolved my problem. Using the hidden menu to control the modem speed and setting it to 33.6 allowed my ReplayTV model PV-HS2000 to connect to the service.

I also had found the same solution as posted by cplmonte. ReplayTV has dialed out successfully EVERY night for 2 months since I changed the baud rate to 19.2k. FYI, if you have a ReplayTV that pre-dates the Panasonic ShowStopper (I have a model 3060), the "special characters" screen referred to by cplmonte is called the "dialing prefix" screen.
With the slower baud rate (19.2k), the nightly call takes 4 or 5 minutes. I have the Vonage plan with unlimited local calling, so the ~140 minutes per month are free and irrelevant. If you have the $14.99 plan, you may have to pay for these minutes if you go over your allotment. |

My ReplayTV (ShowStopper 2000) works just fine without any changes at all over Vonage. |

Just wanted to say Thanks to all you who posted their results with using Vonage with ReplayTV. I have a Panasonic ShowStopper 2000 and wound up using 31.6 for my speed.
As my ReplayTV was the primary reason for purchasing the Vonage unit, I'm grateful that I was able to find a solution here.
Cheers!

Well, unfortunately for me, I cannot get my Showstopper 2000 to work at all using my Vonage line and I am completely pissed about it.
I have tried 33.6, 28.8, 19.2, 14.4 and even the lowly 9600 bps settings in the futile attempt to get this thing to complete a proper update. No luck on any setting. I even tried a DSL filter. Heck, the Vonage tech support person (who could only say that the ReplayTV was *not supported*) told me to try reversing the DSL filter as well. No help there. His suggestion didn't work either.
So now I can either do without my ReplayTV (not realistic) or get a newer model that will allow me to connect via my cable modem.
Heck, the Vonage line was supposed to SAVE me money. No I have to go out and spend more.
Argghhhh..... SOOOO angry... |

Anyone have up to date info on how to get a panasonic showstopper 2000 to dial out over vonage (DC area)? I've tried this thread's recommended changes to bps etc.
When set to wait for dialtone, the showstopper doesn't detect dialtone. When set not to wait, the showstopper spends about 2 minutes "dialing..." before saying there was a problem connecting. Have not yet tried a dsl filter on the line. |

I'm in the same situation as Willis. In Washinton DC area, and set my baud to 33.6 kbps. Didn't work when I was trying it (11am). Hopefull it will work tonight ok. (I'll let you all know if I get it to work)
New to vonage, this is the last obstical before I can rid myself of Verizon, hope it works! So far I have disconnected the feed from Verizon and have the wires in the house all running off of Vonage without any (well, any major) problems. |
