I have a replayTV 2000 and can't get it to connect. Tried all modem speeds. Don't know what else to do. I'm Salt Lake City, Utah and using Comcast (evil bastards).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Well, I figured I would post a followup. In the end, nothing worked for me. Like all of you, it was a dead issue in getting my Panasonic Showstopper 2000 to work with my Vonage line.

So what did I do? Spent more money, of course! Eek

I sold my Panasonic Showstopper 2000 on eBay (got a pretty decent price for it) and purchased a ReplayTV 5040 with a lifetime subscription off of eBay. I could have connected it with an ethernet cable and that would have been that, but I've been getting tired of more cables around the house, so I purchased a Linksys Wireless bridge to connect the 5040 to my wireless network.

Definitely NOT a cheap solution. On the other hand, it works REALLY well and I can offload shows that I record on the ReplayTV to my computer and burn them to DVD if I want. Plus I got the commercial skip functionality. So I guess I am ok with it all. Heck, I even upgraded the hard drive on the unit. But still, considering I went with Vonage to save money, it now seems it won't be until about 2007 until I recoup my investment!!! Sad Oh well....

Hi,

I was successfuly running my replay tv (panasonic showstopper actually) at 33.6K today without a problem. Hoping this will work consistently.

For those people that were able to connect to ReplayTV, did you have to use any codes in addition to slowing down the modem speed? (ie . "*99", "*70", "#401,*99" ...etc)

TIA

Try reseting your Replay unit. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds or so.

Sorry I forgot to mention I had tried that in addition to a DSL filter both inline and backwards and with and without prefix codes. There is a firmware upgrade for certain models, but I have not heard back for the PAP2.

well trying not to get off subject. I ran into a problem. I got a TIVO for free from my mother-in law and it didn't have the network connection like my ReplayTV. I needed a custom channel guide, and was having my verizon home phone shut off May 31st to switch to Vonage. Well on the 3rd of june i got my channel list but it was to late my verizon had been disconnected already. The TIVO rep told me that i could not use Vonage to connect due to the fact that it required a ANALOG phone line, and Vonage was Digital...maybe this is the problem? IDK

just my $.02

Just picked up a Replaytv Showstopper.
I tried to connect about 30 times........all different modem speeds.
Finally *99,*70 connected.
I'm now connecting every time at the highest modem speed.

I'm a little lost...............I already have my bandwidth savings set to the highest setting........but it took *99 to make the connection.

Here's the question........My caller id time was wrong. It was set correctly on my dashboard. I kept resetting it, but it never corrected the time.
Now, even though my dashboard says my bandwidth is at it's highest setting..........is it really?.....since it takes *99 to actually make the call.

What else could *99 be doing if my settings are correct?

After about 3 weeks waiting for Vonage to show some support, I decided to use a free solution to get my replaytv info over the internet instead. http://s95184944.onlinehome.us/ReplayTV.html .With this free script for the linux router Freesco and some tweaking I was able to run this on VMware on an Windows XP system and was able to have the analog modem dial into the computer's modem which then pulled the information from broadband. This site helped as well http://www.replayfaqs.com/4DCGI/Detail_News_Display?ID=86&Session=RPFFUVBWVEVHNEF .

I did what Miadlor suggested with *99,*70 but I had to lower my baud rate to 31.2 and it seems to work.
I had to retry the connection after disconnected with 32% completion and finally I got the guide. I will have to watch few days to see any changes.

I have Cox.net and stacked my linksys RT31P2 with my linksys wireless WRT54G and Firmware Version: Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7

Hope it helps
