Hi all. I'm new here and very frustrated. I got my RT31P2 hooked up with a Linksys WRT54G behind it. Internet is fine, but no phone. If I unplug or reset the router, I can use the phone for about 30 seconds. Then the Phone 1 light starts flashing and it's all dead. If I go to the router screen under the phone (or voice section, I don't remember) it says that the status of Line 1 is Invalid.
Any suggestions? I was just on hold with tech support for 30 minutes and they disconnected me.

interesting set up, most people have that nice router in front of the RT31P2 because it has a lot more functionality (esp with sveasoft firmware). |

Ok, I switched the two routers so now it goes Cable modem--> WRT54G --> RT31P2.
The only lame thing about that is the fact that I can't get into the web page of the phone router now because it's on a different subnet. I was able to get into both of them before.
Anyway, reset everything and now I seem to have figured out what the problem is, or at least where it stems. I don't think it has anything to do with the router or my LAN setup, it has to do with my Radio Shack cordless phones. They don't seem to send a "hang up" signal to the router. I made a call, worked fine, hung up and the light continued to blink. When I turn the phone back on, I get a fast busy signal. If I unplug the phone from the router, things go back to normal.
Any clue what that may be? I'll look through the forums too.
Thanks,
Eric |

I'm not having a lot of luck finding similar problems. what model phone is it? are you using a 2 wire (red and green) or 4 wire (red, green, yellow, black) cord? if it's 4 wire, try it with 2 wire if you have some. |
