I just installed Vonage across my home phone outlets. If I answer the call before 3 rings -- no problem -- I get the call and everything is normal. If I answer after 3 rings, I hear nothing on the receiving end in my house, and the caller continues to hear rings until it transfers to voicemail. If they call back again within a short period of time, it immediately will send the call to my Network Availability Number.
Please note the following: 1) Voicemail is enabled with a 45 second delay 2) Call forwarding is deactivated 3) I am certain that the home phone lines are not connected to the phone company still
I spoke with a customer service rep who thought it might be a phone line splitter I had, which I removed, and continue to experience this problem. It sounds to me like a problem with either the "Linksys Router with 2 Phone Ports" that Vonage gave me (hooked into another Linksys wireless router) or a problem with Vonage software/systems. I am on hold as this is being escalated but am not optimistic that support has a clue.
Any input? I just successfully transferred my original telco number and now regret it. |

How many devices are plugged into the line? Might be an issue with the ringer equiv. rating. Not a tech guru by any stretch here, but you might try reducing the number of phones or other devices down to one and see if it works. If so, add another device and test again. Repeat until failure |

After numerous attempts at figuring it out, it came down to a Directv High Def Tivo box creating the problem. I put it on a separate line and that seems to have fixed it. |
