Post subject: New user with Cablevision static IP service?
Hi All:
I just signed up for business
Vonage
and new internet service at the same time. I am getting Optimum online for business with a Static IP. I am supposedly getting a Cisco router that goes along with the cable modem from the cable company because i ordered static IP service. I guess the cisco router is required for static IP service.
I am used to using my own router (Linksys) connected directly to a modem so I am concerned about any issues i may have with the supplied cisco router and
Vonage
.
Will i have any issues using the cisco router (with static ip) connected to the
Vonage
adapters? Are there special
Vonage
settings for static IP service and
Vonage
?
Is this the best wiring connection method for my devices?:
-Connect cable modem to the Cisco router.
-Connect the two
Vonage
adapters directly to 2 of the cisco router ports (before my network switch).
-Connect the remaining available cisco port to my 24 port linksys switch for computer networking?
- Or, should i just connect the
Vonage
adapters to my own 24 port switch?
Any advice for me? Thanks so much...
