...and in case it's relevant, this is the configuration after rebooting, and after I went through the two steps to get the internet to connect, ie, renewing my IP address, and resetting my LAN connection.

Post subject: Switched New Computer with Vista Now Now Phone Service

As long as I used Microsoft XP
Vonage
worked very well. Just had to replace computer last Sept with HP computer with Vista and cannot get both telephone service and internet at same time. Have spent 4.5 hours on cell phone with support and received new router but problem persists. Have exchanged computer and problem persists.
Without high level support will have to cease use of product after years of happy use unfortuately.

You do not get an IP after reboot. I take it that your PC is running Vista. This is the same Vista compatibility issue that has been known by Microsoft in relation to certain DHCP servers and I have discussed it before in a few other posts.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233
While this sounds like the same issue, for some reason your initial DHCP discovery packet has the broadcast flag turned on but after doing the manual repair, Vista does fail back where the discovery flag is not sent. This is what allows you to then obtain an IP.
Step A below should correct it for you. It is simple, quick and what has worked best for most. That's why I listed it first.
Simple fixes here are:
A) Disable the IP Helper service:
1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Scroll down to the IP Helper service, right click on it and select Properties
3. In the dropdown box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to Disabled and then click on "Apply"
4. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
5. Click OK to exit the dialog
6. Reboot computer and check for internet connectivity.
If that didn't work, try
B) Disable IPv6:
1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "ncpa.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Right click on each network connection and select "Properties"
3. Remove the checkmark from the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
4. Click OK to exit the dialog
5. Reboot computer and check for internet connectivity.
If that didn't work, try
C) Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:
1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter regedit and press Enter.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Inter faces\{GUID}
4. In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey to be updated.
5. If the key DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag does not exist, use the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value. In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag, and then press ENTER. If the key exists, skip this step.
6. Right-click DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag, and then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
8. Close Registry Editor.
9. Reboot computer and check for internet connectivity.
If none of the above work, just assign a static IP to your PC using the same information that was assigned via DHCP and this will all be long forgotten.

Before saying that all 4 changes didn't work, let me clarify some areas that I may have gone wrong:
Option A: Pretty straightforward. Tried it. No connection after rebooting.
Option B: I clicked on 3 of the 4 connections, even though 2 of them were disabled or not connected. (The other one was the National Broadband Access that I believe is my VZAccess for Verizon-guess it shouldn't be on my pc but rather my laptop.) So then I unchecked each box with IPv6 in it. Did all at once and rebooted. No connection after rebooting.
Option C: I do not know what {GUID} is but I can tell you that under "Interfaces" there are 4 long numbers. 3 of the 4 "long numbered whozeewhats" had the DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag key and I changed all 3 of them to the value=0. The other 1 of the 4 was the default and I did not change OR ADD anything to this subset.
Option D: This one needs more details if you want me to try this one. For example, are you saying that I have to re-enter my router? Do I change the WAN, LAN or DHCP settings? Do I need to look under the Advanced tab or the Home tab? Please be more specific but let's take care of trying Option C first and then I can try Option D.
Much appreciated.

Aaahhh. But wait! A glimmer.
After submitting that last post, I went to recheck the 4 whozeewhat lines of numbers under the interfaces in the Registry Editor and had not changed one of the values to a 0. When I did, I then rebooted and while I didn't get a full internet connection, I did get one of the two steps to having an internet connection resolved. In other words, I did have access to the network but still didn't have access to the internet. Subsequently, the only repair step I had to do was to reset my LAN, instead of renewing my IP and THEN resetting my LAN adapter.
So.
Keep going. I can almost taste it! Victory is mine!
Also, since Option C seemed to work, should I undo what I did in Option B and A or are these steps to be built upon each other?

To be completely honest, at this point, you would have to take this up with Microsoft. This is a known issue with Vista and these are the fixes that Microsoft suggests. If they don't work, you might be the only person out there whose issue was not resolved by performing all 3. You can also leave them as is since they do not harm anything.
Now with steps A - C completed, can you reboot and post your ipconfig /all again before doing anything else?
Also, what do you mean exactly by "reset my LAN"?
As for step D, this is to be performed on your PC, not on the router.
Follow ed56's 2nd post with the exception of step 5.
Do this on your computer:
1. Open Network Connections.
2. Right-click the network card you want to change, and then click Properties.
3. On the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) v4 only.
4. Click Properties to open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) v4 Properties dialog box.
Once here change the option to Use the Following IP address. This is where you will assign your PC the same information it had received via DHCP when it was in a working state.
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.15.3
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.15.1
For DNS servers, assign the ones that your ISP assigned to the router which was in your first post.
DNS 1 24.178.80.36
DNS 2 24.177.176.36
Now click OK and then OK again until the windows close. Reboot your PC and retest. If this doesn't work, you may have an issue with your Network Interface Card in the PC.

Sry for reply delay. Kids.
I will try these recommendations and reply before going to Microsoft. Incidentally and very minor aside, BitTorrent doesn't work now and I'm guessing b/c I turned off IPv6? Like I said, hesitate to even mention it other than to wonder if other programs wouldn't work either? Oh, and in case wondering, don't dl anything illegally.
Also, and my ignorance continues to spout out things that may not connect, but I tried to dl the
Vonage
toolbar and it said that I couldn't b/c it didn't have secure updates. Combed the troubleshooting and tried the recs but to no avail. Is this related to above changes that I did? Still researching this at the other forums so I don't want to take up a lot of your time with this, but again, if it's related.....

wleary5 - You might be able to set up DHCP in the Voange router and set your p.c to a static I.P# "the same one you set up in your router under static" that way Vista is out of the picture "I think".
You would set the WAN in the router (to Auto DHCP) and set the
( LAN) in the router to a static address, that you give it. Fianlly set the same static address in your network connections on the p.c.
you have to add the gateway which is the i.p address of the router and the same sub net mask as the router. You should see all this information when you log in to the router / setup.
Cheers
