Post subject: Steps to use Vonage with BSNL (Motorola vonage router)
In some places BSNL uses PPPOE (not DHCP) and provides customers with a user-id and password to access the internet. In this scenario, use the below steps to configure
vonage
.
1. Connect BSNL modem to
Vonage
router using Blue color Ethernet cable
2. Connect
Vonage
router to Computer using another cable. Say a Gray color Ethernet cable
3. Now see the IP of the computer. It should be 192.168.15.2
4. Open Internet explorer and go to
http://192.168.15.1
5. Here type user-id: router and password: router
6. Go to setup-> WAN Configuration
7. Change the default DHCP to PPPOE. The screen then prompts for user-id and password. Type your BSNL user-id and password. Hit Save, the
vonage
router now reboots. This step ensures that the BSNL user-id & passwd are stored in the
Vonage
router.
8. Now connect the Phone to the phone port on the
vonage
router. You get the dial tone!!
9. That’s it…its free calling now!
Enjoy, hope my posting helps.
