I have tried over and over again. I know I am signing in with the correct user name and password for my PPPoe connection for my ISP.
It keeps telling me to unplug all of my network equipment and plug them back in. I have done that numerous times and it will not work!
Any suggestions out there?
Thanks.

Sure, the first piece will be to tell us about your network. How is everything setup currently (i.e. DSL Modem -> Router -> PC) along with make/models? We currently know you have DSL.
As a preemptive measure, here are some thoughts:
1) If you have your own router (DSL Modem -> Router -> PC), just plug the V-Portal (I assume this is the device) into an open LAN port on the router and do not enable PPPoE in the Vonage device.
2) IF you do not have a router and have the Vonage device first (DSL Modem -> V-Portal -> PC), then follow these instructions for setting up PPPoE on the Vonage device:

Thanks for responding to my vonage issue...
My set up is a desktop computer with AT&T DSL modem and a separate router... Belkin.
I did have the PPPoe selected on the Vonage sign in.
I will try your setup as you listed ..
and see what happens :
it powers up
retrieves my profile
then says check if my my internet is down with error code 002]..(my internet is fine)
"try restarting modem,,,for dsl check
PPPoE setup"
I have done this before with no satisfactory result,,,frustrating.
when I attempt to access the v-configure.com page it takes me to the vonage error page. |

Should be pretty straight forward. Keep your current setup of DSL Modem -> Belkin Router -> PC and just add the V-Portal to a port on the Belkin. Disable PPPoE on the V-Portal and set it up for DHCP and you should be fine.
By the way, on some older firmwares (yours will automatically upgrade once it gets connected to the Vonage servers) you will have issues using v-configure. Just open up a browser and use the IP 192.16.15.1 (or run an ipconfig from the command prompt to see what the default gateway IP is) which should be the default gateway and you will be able to log in just fine. |

Before you received the Vonage V-Portal, where did you have your PPPoE information configured?
Is it on your DSL modem or is it configured on the Belkin router?
If your connecting the WAN port of the V-Portal to the modem and the PPPoE is not configured in the DSL modem, then it would need to be configured in the V-Portal.
If your connecting the WAN port of the V-Portal to a LAN port of the Belkin, then the V-Portal would only need to be set for DHCP which is how it is configured out of the box. |

My current setup is PPPoE.
I have tried just using the DHCP to no avail.
I have it as DSL>AT&T Modem>Belkin Router>Computer.
I then ran a cable from the VPortal to the router -any port on router.
Nothing...
I have tried connecting the vportal directly to the modem.
directly to the PC.
***When the vportal directly into modem it ...reboots..powers up... connect to internet..retrieves ip address..and profile...said connected to internet and goes to vonage register..immediately gives error code 004],,,Unplug power and plug it in again... wait til you see the phone 1 icon displayed. When I do this... it does the same cycle over again.
***When the setup is directly from the computer to the vporta, this is the sequence... it says unplug power and plug it in again.. I do..
it powers up..connects to internet ..retrieves profile and ip address.
then immediately gives error 002].. check if your internet is down..
my computer in this setup says I have limited connectivity of course.
*** When I have it as DSL modem>Belkin router> computer>with the vportal on any router ethernet port. the vportal powers up... retrieves profile...and immediately give error code 002] check if your internet is down...Try restarting your modem....For DSL check your PPPoE setup ... in this situation I have done what it suggests and it just starts over. I have also tried making it a DHCP setup and still
nothing.
To answer an earlier question of yours, the PPPoE setting IS on my AT&T modem. I have used the correct username and password to confiugure the vportal when I set it up to PPPoE.
I wonder if I have a faulty device
Thanks for all of your help.
I don't know if any of this info will help you to evaluate and resolve this whole mess, but I do appreciate your efforts.
I know I have tried everything from power cycling the entire system together to every kind of connection set up. I must be missing something here or the equipment is bad. I do suspect that one cable sent with the vportal is bad... at one point the setup asked me to replace that cable with another and I did.. but nothing changed.
Ay Yi Yi Yi Yi!

Lets try to keep this very simple.
Go back to your original settings where Internet was working just fine.
-MODEM > BELKIN > PC (make sure internet works on PC)
-Power up the Vonage device with no ethernet cables plugged in and reset the device (push and hold the reset button for about 10 secs)
-Now connect from any open LAN port on BELKIN to the BLUE INTERNET PORT on the Vonage Device.
The vonage device (after the reset) should be on DHCP and should get an IP addr from your BELKIN router (On the Device, hit SELECT > SYSTEM > NETWORK INFO > INTERNET PORT to check the IP. It should read something like 192.168.x.xxx) |

Since PPPoE is configured on your DSL modem, you would not have to do anything with the V-Portal except power it up and connect it's WAN port to the DSL modem or a LAN port on the Belkin. You should not be configuring PPPoE in the V-Portal since the modem is already authenticating your DSL connection. |

And I like the idea of keeping it simple Patti123, but that does not work either. The IP address lists as 0.0.0.0 nothing...
I have internet just fine with my setup as usual as modem>router>PC.
I have now decided that it is vonage's equipment issue .
I have tried all of the ports besides the modem port on my router and it is the same issue. My router is sending an ip address when I check it through ipconfig.
So that is the simple truth |

I started from scratch (again) I connected my equipment as usual.
I made sure I have an internet connection with my modem>router>pc.
I powered up the vportal. I reset it and it rebooted. Once booted I connected an ethernet cable from any port of my router to the vportal WAN (blue) port. It shows good connection with lights. Network info shows no IP address. and now the vportal just sits there and says it is rebooting and never reboots.
I do believe it is a vonage equipment problem. Would you not agree?
I know the cables are good.
Thanks for all of your help. |
