I had been having a problem with my Vonage service from last Thursday up to this past Tuesday. For some of my phone calls (about 1/3), I had been having one-way audio issues where the other party would not be able to hear me. This would happen with calls I would make and receive using the phone attached to my Vonage adapter. The kicker, however, is that this would ALSO happen with calls I would answer on my cell phone using SimulRing.
I have been going back and forth with Vonage tech support since Monday about this. In every e-mail I send to them, I imply or specifically state that the problem MUST be somewhere in the Vonage network, since that's the only way the same problem could be ocurring for both kinds of calls. And in every response I've received except one, they've tried to troubleshoot my adapter and local network. The one e-mail that was not about the adpter itself was a request that I test SimulRing with a different phone number. I even specifically asked that my problem be escellated, and got yet another response to change something with my local network.
Now, I'm not looking for a solution to the problem for me to implement, since I'm certain there's nothing I can do about it. I AM venting a bit about tier 1 support. But I am also hoping someone who is better connected than me might either be able to provide insight as to what the specific problem could be that I could pass along to them, or better yet, trigger an investigation into this problem within the Vonage network. If it's happened to me, I'm sure it's happened to others. I just wonder how many of these others may have spent time troubleshooting their adapters when the actual problem was elsewhere because they didn't have SimulRing to provide the additional clue I had.
Thanks. |
