It's a pretty simple question, but one for which I need a deffinitive answer so I know if I am wrong in an ongoing "discussion" I'm having with Vonage's tech support.
When someone calls my Vonage phone number, my cell phone rings because it is configured as a SimulRing number. If I answer this call, is the Vonage adapter in my house in any way responsible for handling the audio of the call with my cell phone? I believe the answer is "no," but I would like someone who knows the system better than me to confirm whether I am correct or not.
Thanks. |

If you are picking up the cell phone (just making it clear as I am sure you are speaking of answering the cell phone) based on simulring, the adapter is not responsible for the audio. |

Simulring does not involve the ATA. If you have simulring enabled and you unplug your ATA from power and internet, simulring will still work. This is because it is done at Vonage rather than you end point or ATA. |

Excellect way of proving this. Thanks.
I know, it seems pretty obvious that SimulRing calls would be handled back at Vonage. But for the problem I'm discussing w/ tech support, they keep trying to troubleshoot the ATA, even though I keep trying to point out that the problem also involves SimulRing calls.
I'll post the actual problem in a separate thread, since it seems I'll get better information here than there. |
