1. Nashville, TN 2. Comcast cable 3. Test at 3.1 up, 8.0 down 4. Moto Surfboard 5120 5. Moto VT1005V 6. Modem---->WRT54Gv9-->Vonage (rest of net off the router) 7. We came home yesterday to no dial tone. When I powered off the router and powered it back on again, I got a dial tone for about 30 seconds... and then nothing. I thought I had a phone off the hook, but when I ran around the house, nothing was off. I tried with a phone hooked directly into the Vonage box (taking the house wiring out of the loop) and got exactly the same results. Power off the box, turn it on, dial tone, 30 seconds later, no dial tone.
After an hour on the cell phone with Tech Support plugging, unplugging, booting and rebooting, they told me that my box was bad, and that they were replacing it. Then about 10 minutes later, they called me back and said, "no... the problem is on our end. We'll give you a call within 48 hours."
So, two basic questions: 1. Anyone else in this boat with me? and 2. Do you think the problem really is on their end, or are they just trying not to send me a replacement?
Thanks!

Just for testing purposes, can you plug the VT1005 directly to the modem and see what happens? At least we can rule out something on your network which will either lead to something on Vonage's end or the adapter itself (although I don't think it is the adapter because you do get dialtone and if it happens every 30 seconds, it's to coincidental). |

That was part of what I did. I have had a connection all day today, so it seems to be resolved by Vonage. It's a little annoying that I had to call support and spend an hour with them before they figured out that the problem was on their end. |
