I am using 5 different brand phones with my Vonage number - and they all have message waiting indicator lights. None of them lights up when I have voice mail.
I do receive the stutter tone - after contacting tech support twice.
I am really annoyed that none of the indicator lights work on my phone. I have to pick up the receiver every time I get home to check if there is voice mail - like in the olden days.
Does anyone else experience this issue (stutter tone - but no indicator light)?
I e-mailed tech support about this - but it is probably going to take days for anybody to get back to me. I gave up on calling Vonage - last time I was on hold for 30 minutes (!) before somebody answered. (with an attitude)
Anyways - any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

Until this afternoon, I wasn't getting a stutter tone for voicemail....but now that I am....my Panasonic 2.4GHz Gigarange KX-TG2650 picked up on it right away. It worked fine when I was with SBC/Ameritech and its voicemail.
New for Vonage, I had purchased an AT&T 972 2-line phone. Since I still have a landline....my fax line.....so I could use it as backup should the need arise, though nothing rings on the line.
Anyways, I had to fiddle around with the AT&T to get it to recognize the stutter tone for voicemail.
FWIW, I have a 5 port splitter on the back of the ATA and three devices connected to it...two have voicemail lights and both do caller-id, etc.
The only 'quirk' is the phone needs to know to pickup the line to check for the stutter tone....since that's the only way to detect it. Guess the other method of FSK can't be done.
Not sure what triggers the AT&T phone to look...but the Panasonic periodically picks up the light to check the dial tone.....I first noticed the light on the ATA coming on briefly shortly after the phone stops ringing or shortly after I hang up. More recently, the distracting flash I sometimes see out of the corner of my eye....when the line in use light on the AT&T phone lights up....

Vonage only supports stutter tone detection. Most phones use a newer detection for voicemail called FSK. If you search this board you will find that people have posted phones that work with stutter tone detection. |

Actually, it's the Cisco ATA that only recognizes stutter dial tone, or CLASS, message waiting. |
