Post subject: Retreving IP, Error 003...Unplug and Restart
Hi
Please help!!!! am getting same message constantly and
Vonage
customer support has been of no help.
I got
Vonage
from my sister in the US. I tried to install it but I am having problems.
Following are the details of my setup-
1)
Vonage
adapter Model - VDV21-VD
2)
Vonage
MAC ID - 001F3A121DBD
3) ISP - Airtel
4) Type of BroadBand Connection - TCP/IP Properties- Obtain IP Addr and DNS Server Addr Automatically
5) No Router
The following is the sequence of steps -
1) I connected all cables as mentioned in the manual.
2) Switched on the modem,
Vonage
, computer (in that order)
3) Got message 'Retrieving IP Address' , 'Error 003...Unplug and Restart.
4) I switched off the modem , then
Vonage
and then computer (in that order).
5) Waited for 10 minutes and again switched on.
got the same issue
Also I could not go to Web GUI (through v-configure.com). When i connected the yello port of the adapter to my PC LAN and tried to open the page http:v-configure.com, i got the message page cannot be displayed.
Please help...
thanks!!

Wish,
I believe Airtel is DSL, so now that you have the
Vonage
adapter behind the modem and the PC plugged into the
Vonage
adapter, you need to add your username/password for the DSL line into the
Vonage
adapter.
To log into the router, you can use the IP 192.168.15.1 since some of the older devices (on the older firmwares) have an issue using v-configure.
Here is a link to walk you through the process found on the support site at vonage.com:
http://www.vonage.com/support.php?keyword=VPortal_WebUI§ionID=basic#connect
Basic Setup -> Connect to the Internet -> PPPoE

You problably have PPPoE, check your computer how it is set up, and you will probably need a signon and password entered in the
Vonage
device as well (check your PC how it is set up).
Typically, DSL in India records the MAC address of the first device it is connected to, and will not connect to any other device, so you will need to clone that to your
Vonage
device. I believe the VDV21-VD will do that somewhat automatically., check the manual and settings on the adapter.

Wish,
Do you have your PC setup for DCHP? Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection and make sure it is setup to obtain an IP automatically.
Also, I assume you have this correct, but make sure the PC is plugged into the
Vonage
router's LAN port (yellow port I believe).
When you go to Start -> Run -> cmd (command prompt) and type "ipconfig", what do you get? When the settings are correct, the default gateway will read 192.168.15.1.

whatumean,
I have a similar problem like the one mentioned. I seem to have tried all options from:
1. Rebooting the
Vonage
2. Checking the dynamic option which you mentioned - It is dynamic
3. Reset to factory settings
4. Connecting as per the guidelines given
5. Checking if there is any packet loss - No
6. I use a DHCP connection and it is absolutely working fine
7. The ISP provider is BSNL.
After all these trials I see that the problem is not resolved.
Could you pls help
